The Jane Goodall Institute South Africa Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated near Nelspruit in Mbombela and is home to 34 Chimpanzees that have been misplaced from their natural habitats in Central Africa. This tranquil sanctuary is committed to the rescue and care of Chimpanzees in need of refuge and brings the world of Chimpanzees closer to humanity through education and tourism.
Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots South Africa works in local communities and schools to educate and inspire young people to take action for people, animals and our environment. Roots & Shoots also works to raise awareness of the need for conservation, community development and about Chimpanzees in Africa.
