African Angels Independent School, located in Chintsa East, just outside East London in the Eastern Cape South Africa, offers high quality education to some of the most disadvantaged children in the area, at a very low cost to parents / carers. The School provides educational opportunity to orphaned and/or vulnerable children in the Chintsa East and Glen Eden townships.
The school opened in 2012 at the site of an old farm high school, and after refurbishing classrooms and bathroom facilities the school was ready to begin. Qualified and experienced teachers were appointed and the decision was made to start slowly, and expand as the school donor base grew.
The school currently provides education for 127 children and in 2018 will expand to Grade 8 and cater for 142 children in 2019.
Partnerships are made with parents/carers of the children where expectations are high – participate in parent/teacher evenings, work with teachers to manage behavior issues, participate in school events and support school systems and staff. The school has close relationships with parents and carers of the learners and finds that participation at the school is welcomed by parents and in fact desired.
The African Angels School is a school for the children.
