Charity profile

This project is about ensuring that our young women on school are able to finish their schooling without it being interrupted by a PERIOD and in so doing we ensure that the foundation on which they are able to build their dreams is a solid one.

To date, since 2013, when the seed was first planted and only taking off in July of 2015 with the founder, Cecilé-Ann's 50th birthday, requesting sanitary towels instead of gifts:

-  The Period Project South Africa has supported more than 3000 young women each with a year's supply of sanitary towels, communities in need;

- Campaigned that sanitary towels and the like are sold VAT free;

- Jointly hosted the first Pad Run in 2016, which involved motorcycle riders highlighting the plight of young women missing school;

- Acknowledged by one of our beneficiary schools, Masibambisane Secondary School for having the best improved pass rate because their young women were able to stay in school and not miss it because of a period.

Our aim is to Stop the Cycle of Poverty and we believe this possible when we ensure that our women are given a fair chance at completing their education PERIOD
