In Stephany's words:
I created this campaign because I believe that I am so blessed and have so
much, so every opportunity I get to do something extraordinary from running Comrades to walking this amazing pilgrimage, I try and do it with a bigger purpose in mind so that others less fortunate can benefit. I plan to walk the Camino de Santiago, an 800 km walk across Northern Spain. I will do this as a celebration of life and as an opportunity to raise funds for Little Libraries. I will walk about 25 kms per day for 35 days and every step I take I will take for Little Libraries.
Little Libraries provides an invaluable “service” to an overlooked part of
the education chain. They provide creches, day-care centres and
pre-schools with a reading corner where kids under five can learn, dream and
enjoy a whole new world through words and pictures. They provide access to
books that many have never even seen as well as stationery and educational
material to develop their fine motor skills and. These facilities don’t have
“luxuries” like books and stationery and educational games to prepare these
children for school. After all the first five years of life lays the
foundation. Little Libraries has assisted over 120 schools, which represents
15000 books enabling 4500 children to have access to reading and writing material.
Camille Quine who is the champion behind this initiative loves this project
like it is her own child, one rarely finds such passion, dedication and
hardwork. An extraordinary individual.
Through Little Libraries lives are touched and changed in an environment
where children have very little, children learn how to dream and have
imaginations, they see possibilities and I imagine, they hope. This is an initiative that is worth watching and that is making a difference not just because of what they do, but because Camille is so committed and so passionate. Check them on Facebook, you will fall in love too.
