HealthStart strives to build healthier communities by giving young children foundational skills for lifelong health and well-being. We use a unique approach combining health and science education to help kids understand the "why" behind healthy habits. Through our whole-child approach which includes nutrition education, science experiments, physical activities, and social-emotional lessons, children learn how to keep themselves, their families, and their world healthy.
We have programs that reach children in the classroom and after-school. Your donation goes directly to educating underserved kids and families in the community so they can thrive, no matter the circumstances, and have futures free of disease!
Here are some examples of the impact we're making:
At one of our CHEWS workshops this past spring, Jayden (11) said, “Ever since we made the Apple Cookies, my family has been making them at home!” He even noted that they have been trying out different toppings.
When we made Banana Sushi this summer, Emsley (7) from Goodrich returned to the next lesson and said, “I’ve wanted to have nothing else this week but Banana Sushi because it was so good!”
