Sustainability Institute Children and Youth

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world" - Nelson Mandela.

The Sustainability Institute keeps a special focus on children and youth within the Lynedoch Valley, in our attempt to create a more equitable society that lives in a way that sustains rather than destroys, rehabilitates rather than wastes, the eco-system within which all society is embedded. Our three key education programmes are:

  • Lynedoch Children’s House, 0 – 6 Years
  • SPARK Lynedoch Primary School, 6 – 13 Years
  • Lynedoch Youth Programme, 13 – 24 Years

Most of the families on the farms in the Lynedoch Valley earn between R2 000 to R5 000 per household, and for school going children attending one of the schools, transport is provided to remove this barrier to receiving quality education. We have experienced that investing, from a young age, in the education and personal development of children can have tremendous impact on their formative years, as they grow into young adults.

Financial contributions help support the various activities, and are also used as bursaries for children to attend school. For more detailed information, please view our latest Impact Report.
