DND OPATIJA RECEIVED GLOBAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Society “Our children” Opatija on December 10th in House of Lords in London, received a prestigious world award from the organization Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) in category Civil society leadership award. Society “Our children” Opatija as the Croatian representative was elected to be finalist among organizations from Britain, Turkey and South Africa and first prize was assigned to program from Turkey.
The ceremony in the House of Lords was led by Valerie Howarth, Baroness Howarth of Breckland, where the best were awarded and all finalists were commended for their contribution and work for a better future for children and youth from all around the world. Representatives of Society “Our children” Opatija Sanja Škorić, Sandra Turkalj, Anja Turkalj, Kristina Tubić, Ivan Tancabel - president of Children's city council Opatija and Lea Leonarda Pašić - children's mayor took over the prestigious world recognition. The Croatian Ambassador for the UK, dr. Ivan Grdešić also congratulated them.
CYFI is a global network dedicated to developing and strengthening of the financial capacity of children and young people which includes 36 million children and young people from 125 countries. The awards ceremony promoted the most successful individuals, state institutions, financial organizations and associations that are working to improve financial education and inclusion of children and youth.
The day before the award ceremony an interactive workshop was held, where selected representatives of countries from around the world shared their experiences and achievements in the field of financial education of children and youth. Experts, researchers, representatives of banks, representatives of educational institutions and civil society organizations presented their projects and ideas for improving the financial literacy of young people.
