Beneath the weight of a life-threatening illness such as cancer or HIV, financial pressure and still focusing on the development of the children in the household, family units may crumble and a person’s right to decent and dignified end-of-life care is stripped away.
Knysna Sedgefield Hospice steps in to provide the best possible, holistic palliative care and support to anyone facing a life-threatening illness, as well as their family. Our multi-disciplinary team works together to give hope, dignity, and relief to each of our patients, as well as bereavement, and other support to their children and families.
Since 1986 we have served the area between Harkerville and Wilderness in the Western Cape. We care for over 170 patients a month, including an average of 13 sick children. We care for our patients at no cost to them, and without prejudice or favouritism. Our staff make more than 850 home visits a month to bring hope to the homes of our patients and courage to over 500 children and other family members.
Only 17% of people needing palliative care in South Africa actually receive the care they require. Our work is arduous, challenging and imperceptibly important - and YOU can be a part of the solution by donating to our work.
Your donation whether big or small, will make a huge impact for our patients. Thank you for choosing to support Knysna Sedgefield Hospice. We are deeply grateful!
Donations are tax deductible for South African donors, please email email@example.com to receive your 18a Receipt. Our annual financial statement is available on request.
