HealthCare Outreach and Education

Purpose: To provide outreach healthcare workshops for slum dwelling pregnant women, infants and young children of about 400,000 slum population in Agra, Indore. These workshops and educational sessions are provided by the UHRC staff by holding events that are well-suited with their cultural and social ceremonies and values. Through these events the women’s groups will receive information and the necessary resources to access ante-natal care, vaccination shots for pregnant mothers, infants and young children’s primary care treatment for illness such as diarrhea and fevers, and vaccinations. The funds are needed to organize health and nutrition education and behavior promotions sessions in the slums, and to create educational materials for health education. These events and workshops focus on promoting household nutrition and health behaviors for mothers, infants and children, personal hygiene and hand-washing for the unhygienic slum environment.
