We will be taking to the streets in a new mobile teaching ‘Claymobile’ in 2015, bringing our brand of creativity, fun and self-expression to children in under-serviced communities throughout Cape Town. We aim to raise R600, 000 to expand our children’s Clay Play programmes beyond the forest and take it into schools and community organisations that have no access to art education.  Creativity is essential to the healthy, happy development of children and the Art in the Forest Claymobile allows us to more than double our reach in its first year alone!

Our Art in the Forest Claymobile will be a mobile pottery classroom, transporting all the inspiration, learning and creativity from the Art in the Forest Studio to children who otherwise have no access to art or creative expression in their schools. It will be a mobile pottery studio fitted with non-slip stackable shelving and a driver and an assistant to co-facilitate the Clay Play programmes.

The Claymobile will partner with selected schools and community groups in under-served areas in Cape Town. Each programme will include groups of 20-25 children between the ages of 8-18 years old, providing consistent, in-depth pottery lessons for a full school term.

Over the past two years we have conducted a successful Clay Play programme offering free pottery classes to disadvantaged children from local communities in our Studio. We are now determined to give more children a creative outlet by conducting more classes in more locations with the Art in the Forest Claymobile.
