Although institutions provide children in need of care with a Home, it is not ideal for any child to grow up in. Creating cottages will combat the effects of institutions. It will model a home-like environment, allow for better care, a safer, less porous environment, and better bonding between children and their assigned Child Care Workers. It will increase stability and security in the lives of our children.

We would like to have 6 cottages accommodating 10 children with separate living space for the Child Care Worker, allowing for close supervision. The cottages will allow for each child to have their own private space and cupboards for safe storage of personal items; place for personal drawings, photographs and other meaningful items; and allowing the children to develop a sense of responsibility and pride of ownership.

Restructuring the Home into cottages has been estimated to cost R2, 000,000.00 per cottage.
