On the event of her 92nd birthday, Mama Albertina Sisulu celebrated the
400th surgery funded by the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Foundation
(WSPCF) since 2003.

WSPCF is the largest philanthropic paediatric cardiac centre in Africa,
established as a living legacy to the late Walter Sisulu, which focuses on
the delivery of life-saving surgery for underprivileged children with
congenital heart disorders from across Africa.

It also aims to develop diagnostic and treatment skills amongst Africa's
medical fraternity and conducts critical research into paediatric cardiac
healthcare.

The surgery is undertaken at the Netcare Sunninghill Hospital in
Johannesburg, which houses the Walter Sisulu Paediatric Cardiac Centre for
Africa (WSPCCA), as well as at Cape Town's Netcare Christian Barnard
Memorial and Red Cross Children's Hospitals.

Mama Sisulu used the occasion of her birthday to call upon South Africans to
continue to help the WSPCF with its good work, with the launch of the 400
More initiative.
