Charity profile

The team is a registered charity who relies entirely on the generosity of the public and other organisations for donations and funding. Our primary responsibility is to provide a search and rescue service to the area covered by Northumbria Police.

This vast area encompasses all of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear and is approximately five thousand square kilometres (three thousand square miles). As a secondary responsibility the team can be called upon to assist neighbouring mountain rescue teams, in the North East region, during protracted or difficult incidents and the team can call upon these neighbours to give assistance during similar circumstances.
