In October 2006 a nine-month tailoring class was started at the Heritage Center at Camp Johnson Road. What a delight to have eight eager learners. Participants are between the ages of 8 and 20 years. With four sewing machines each one has an opportunity to practice what is taught.
Each sewing machine costs approximately $150 in Liberia. We still need more machines so that each one will be able to 'man' a machine at the same time. The class will be limited to 10 persons and is held three days per week each for three hour session.
The curriculum is as follows:
Month 1 basics in sewing
Month 2 Skirt making
Month 3 Blouses
Month 4 Dresses
Month 5 Skirts
Month 6 Trousers
Month 7 Complex blouses and skirts
Month 8 Complex dresses
Month 9 Complex trousers
