Team Qhubeka ASSOS #BicyclesChangeLives

Team Qhubeka ASSOS races for something bigger than wins. The team rides to help people in Africa to move forward with bicycles. Team Qhubeka ASSOS and Qhubeka share a belief that #BicyclesChangeLives.

The hand on the back of the team race jersey is a reminder that every Qhubeka bicycle is a helping hand up to a Qhubeka beneficiary. To the team, it symbolises the power that bicycles have in changing lives. A bicycle is not a handout – it’s a tool people can use to achieve their own goals, just as Team Qhubeka ASSOS works to achieve its team goals, always moving forward.

The funds raised by the #BicyclesChangeLives campaign are channelled into Qhubeka’s scholar mobility and mechanic training programmes. They help children to get to school and sports activities more easily, and mechanics to access economic opportunities.

By supporting #BicyclesChangeLives you can help children to access education, and help support skills development and job creation in South Africa.

About Qhubeka

Qhubeka is a global charity that moves people forward with bicycles in Africa. People earn bicycles through our programmes, improving their access to schools, clinics and jobs.

A bicycle is a tool that helps people to travel faster and further, to generate income and to carry more. In the face of extreme and persistent poverty, bicycles can change lives by helping to address socioeconomic challenges at the most basic level – helping people to get where they need to go.

Why “Qhubeka” and why bicycles?

Qhubeka is an Nguni word that means “to progress”, “to move forward”. Bicycles help people move forward. With a bicycle, a person can travel faster and further, and carry more. Bicycles help people to change their lives. They are an accessible, reliable, affordable form of personal transport.

Let’s change more lives together

From buying Qhubeka merchandise to funding an entire bicycle distribution, every act of support by an individual or organisation helps us to move more people forward with bicycles. Partner with us and help us to change more lives with bicycles.
