Youth Day Sport Festival

The Youth Day Sport Festival draws inspiration from Sustainable Development Goals, namely good health and well-being and Peace,
Justice and strong Institutions; the proposed action for the following WPAY priority areas: Drugs, Health, Leisure-Time Activities, Juvenile Deliquency; and the national outcomes. The
introduction of Youth Day tournament would be reaffirming the positon of UNESCO
and upholding the directive that governments and NGO’s to be guided by the
Charter in pursuit of sport development. The South African government, however, has long recognized the importance of sports development through establishment of SASCOC and the National Development Plan. But youth and children safeguarding in sport has been given too little attention by many organizations, funding bodies and governments for a considerable amount of time. The most
common reactions being that it does not happen, is someone else’s
responsibility or is an isolated incident.
