"Haiti doesn't need humanitarian assistance that can be turned into dependence. We need solidarity, solidarity between people; this way we can achieve our goals in sovereignty and dignity, building brotherhood for a better world." - Ricot Jean-Pierre, programme director of PAPDA (Haitian Platform to Advocate for Alternative Development).

A delegation of the Africa for Haiti campaign will visit Haiti from 10-22 August. It is time to walk the talk for Haiti's long-term reconstruction.

We plan to sit down with 5 Haitian civil society organisations and listen to their priorities and vision for reconstructing their country that was wrecked by the 12 January earthquake. We will visit a number of rural communities to learn how we could support their efforts to build new lives out of the ruins.

We want to demonstrate our solidarity as Africans with the people of Haiti.

We invite you to walk with us and to talk with us as you follow our live updates from the ground in Haiti. Consider making a donation to support Haitian initiatives to reconstruct their country. Spread the message and encourage others to walk the talk for Haiti too.
