Girls and Boys Town launch Tongaat Capital campaign to raise funds for their historic Tongaat campus
The Girls and Boys Town Tongaat campus is one of the flagship premises of the non-profit organisation which was built by Dominican nuns over 100 years ago. The campus has a rich history in Kwa-Zulu Natal and is known for caring for and creating opportunities for vulnerable youth to grow and develop into responsible citizens.
In the recent years, due to aging infrastructures and compromised workmanship, some of the buildings are falling down, crumbling and some are even condemned, regardless of consistent maintenance. Girls and Boys Town has launched the Tongaat capital campaign as a marketing and advertising initiative to raise funds to create a safe and homely environment for vulnerable youth to heal and S.H.I.N.E.® in Tongaat and surrounding areas in KZN.
Developed through years of practice and learning, this therapeutic approach establishes self-Significance, assists youth to reconnect with a meaningful Home, to grow their Independence, to provide Nurturing
so they can love themselves and feel love for others, and advances Education as an essential cornerstone for self-realisation (S.H.I.N.E.®)
Together with the generous help of Boogertman + Partners and other firms who have already rallied to help our cause there is an ambitious plan that will be carried out in phases. The Tongaat campus rebuild will not only preserve Kwa-Zulu Natal history but serve future generations of children who so desperately depend on our strong grounding to survive and thrive. The unique crowd-funding initiative will enable potential donors from corporate companies or ordinary South African citizens to give to this worthy cause.
“We are confident that this project will be successful in providing a safe home for youth in the same way as our other residences in South Africa, namely Magaliesburg and Kagiso in Gauteng and Macassar in Cape Town. We are appealing to all South Africans to open their hearts and donate because we believe that every child needs the security of a home” says Lee Loynes, CEO of Girls and Boys Town.
