In South Africa, a woman is murdered every 3 hours, and over 1 in 3 women experience physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence.
In the murder capital of South Africa, a township called "Nyanga", young girls experience horrendous acts of murder, rape and gender-based violence.
The Justice Desk (TJD), is an award-winning Human Rights Organisation which operates across South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We empower local people to understand and defend their Human Rights, in order to build safer communities for all!
TJD does incredible work in addressing gender-based violence across South Central Africa. Within the township of Nyanga, we started "The Mbokodo Club" (The Rock Club) - a project that focuses on offering female empowerment, leadership and self-defence workshops to girl survivors of gender-based violence and rape, between the ages of 11 and 19.
The project has three components:
The motto of this project is “wathint’abafazi wathint’imbokodo” which translates to “you strike a woman, you strike a rock”.
Mbokodo girls have gone on to become incredible leaders and champions for human rights in their communities.
We try to assist as many girls as possible, but due to limited resources, we are unable to cater to the desperate need. By donating to this cause you will make it possible for more girls to join this life-changing project. R2000 covers the cost of one girl per year.
Please consider donating, and join The Justice Desk's fight against GBV!
The Justice Desk an registered NPO (186-262) with a BBBEE Level 1 status. We are an award-winning human rights organisation and an official Queen’s Young Leader’s Organisation, having received an award from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Buckingham Palace.
We have impacted the lives of over 350,000 people across 3 countries, and continue to grow each day! The Justice Desk is literally changing lives. However, we need your help to continue doing so into the future!
