It only costs R750 a month, or R9000 a year, to provide a youth living in poverty in the Western Cape with the opportunity to learn essential and creative skills, have a meal daily, and be exposed to exciting opportunities for their future.
The Amy Foundation offers after-school and youth skills development programmes for children and youth living in challenged communities in the Western Cape. Our programmes teach learners essential skills for their future as well as keeping them off the streets and away from negative influences. Our programmes are designed to supplement the shortcomings of the education system within the townships, as well as making education more exciting and relevant.
The Western Cape has the highest level of youth crime, addiction, drug use, in South Africa, and the highest number of 7 to 13 year-olds arrested and charged by police. The Amy Foundation is fighting against these issues, and by sponsoring a youth, you are giving them a fighting chance against HIV/AIDS, involvement with crime, drug use, and violence through the power of education and the safety and support of our centres.
Your R750 a month, or R9000 a year, will pay for a youth’s transport to and from our centres, their education, their daily meal, and all of their equipment needed for the programmes. It also covers the cost for a youth to participate in school holiday programmes in which all accommodation, food, and activities are included.
