Why Water?

Water touches every aspect of our lives. It is vital for our health, gender equity, and economic development. Still, more than 4.5 million Malawians live without access to safe, reliable water sources. As a result, nearly every child in these communities will suffer from potentially fatal waterborne diseases, such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea. 

Even Malawians with access will spend hours walking to collect water for their families. This task disproportionately falls on the shoulders of women and young girls, limiting their ability to pursue other activities, including school, and jeopardizing their futures.

Join Orant's 2023: Running Water Campaign, and help us raise $5,000, which provides enough funding to drill a new well, and will provide safe drinking water to hundreds of people for years to come. By providing clean water, you are saving and changing the lives of those most critically in need.

How Can You Help? 
Run: 

• Step 1: Register to run with the Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon: here. Select your preferred event: Full Marathon: Half Marathon, 10K or 5K race, and get moving! 
• Step 2: Click "Start Fundraising" at the top of this page, and ask your friends and family to support your run, and clean water for Malawi, by making a donation to your fundraiser.
• Step 3: Join us virtually or in person!
  • In-Person:  Join the fun in Kalamazoo on April 23, 2023!
  • Virtually: Support Orant from where ever you are! Follow the steps above, and track your run or walk from anywhere via your personal device and preferred run tracking app! Sign up anytime between now and April 23, then run your event and enter your results into the system anytime between Friday, April 14, 2023 and Sunday, April 30, 2023
