We cannot do it without you: Please Help us get and keep children off the street
The success of the Homestead's is our ability to turn around children from the street and the huge decline over the last few decades in the number of children living, working and beggin on our city streets. The Homestead measures the need for its services by the hundreds of children benefitiing from its services, not as is the international norm by the amount of children trapped in street life. The Homestead believes that no child should live on the street and has developed a positive, collaborative and theraputic approach to getting and keeping children off the street, an approach that currently has an 80 to 90% success rate and one that successfully reunifies 37% of street children with their families..
The Homestead also cares for children vulnerable to drifting towards the street through our drop-in and prevention programmes in Khayelitsha, Manenberg and Valhalla Park. Our new programme in Valhalla Park for instance works with 140 highly deprived and neglected children twice a week offering food, hygine, basic education, social work and family support services.
Please support the Homestead and activiely turn children away from street life and support a theraputic approach that gives chronically neglected, deprived, abused, exploited and traumatised children the care and support they need to turn their lives around.
