Under the lead of Mr Mubinde Kingfred Mwansa, the Wachizungu Orphanage and Academy was registered with the Zambia Authorities on 12 July 2013. The official documentation can be provided upon request.
As a start-up initiative it is based in Livingstone, Zambia, and the orphanage was caring for 20 young children of which 10 boys and 10 girls initially. By 2014, the number of children cared for had grown and totaled 40. The children stay with guardians who are elderly and some relatives who are not able to send the children to school and offer them care that is needed. Most of the children are involved in street sales for their guardians to raise funds to buy food. For the time being we are looking for ways to keep the children in school. Your donations will assist us with school fees for them. Ultimately our dream is to build them a home and proper school that will provide a permanent infrastructure for them. Obviously funding is an issue, but any form of support is welcomed.
