Sport In Action
Charity profile
Sport In Action (SIA) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose mission is to improve people’s quality of life through sport and recreational activities. Formed in 1998 & registered in 1999, SIA is one of the pioneers sporty NGO in Zambia. With Sport for Development as its underlying principle, SIA works with more than 5,000 children and young people each week, many of whom come from challenging backgrounds. SIA is driven by two strategic pillars; Sport for Development (the use of sport as a tool for social change) and Sport Development (infrastructure development of sport facilities to develop sport in schools and communities).
Sport In Action has over fifteen years experience of using sport as a tool for social change with a Project Management team with vast experience in implementing projects through sport. Using the power of sport, we have successfully implemented projects by reputable funders e.g. USAID, DFID, FIFA, UNICEF, World Vision Zambia, PACT Zambia and Save the Children among others. SIA’s unique, interactive strategy of using sport and physical education has proved to be a unique and an effective strategy to mobilize the young people and sustain project activities. Sport has (almost effortless) the ability to mobilize young people regardless of their abilities and status in society.
