Little Lambs Educare Centre & Ark Angels Educare Centre

Education brings hope for the future. Gives self-worth and dignity. All people should have a right to these. The Little Lambs Christian Educare & Ark Angels Educare provide Early Childhood Development services and care to the poor in the communites of Imizamo Yethu, in Hout Bay & Seawinds in Cape Town South Africa. The Educare centres operate 5 days per week with a full-time Principal and staff members – all from the community and cater and provide a safe learning space for 360 children aged between 10 months to 6 years while their parents can seek work in the nearby town.

Besides a small school fee and some government grants the schools are funded purely from donations. The day cares are registered Non Profit Organisations's and Public Benefit Organisations. In 1999 Marlena & Johann van der Walt, members of the Vineyard Church in Hout Bay, started encouraging unemployed church members to begin caring for toddlers of working parents while they were. Over the subsequent years the mandate of the Trust has extended to include education and empowerment initiatives in the broader Hout Bay and Seawinds regions in general.

In the last 18 years Little Lambs has grown and thanks to the generosity of our various corporate and private sponsors, renovations to the existing school buildings were started in 2007. They were completed in 2012 and now consist of 11 classrooms, 17 toilets, a well equipped kitchen, covered verandah and large playground.

The Trust´s primary initiative is the Little Lambs Christian Daycare project, that offers basic care, nutrition and preschool education for children from Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay.

The latest initive of the Seeds Trust is to upgrade and build a whole new school building for the Ark Angels Educare centre in Seawinds that will provide the same opportunities for the children of that neighbourhood that Little Lambs currently provide.
