Our mission is to provide loving care for special needs children with life threatening illness or life limiting conditions in the Western Cape and support for their families. We promote the concept that every life is a gift and valuable.
We believe that:
- Every child’s life is valuable no matter how long or short and is not dependent on what he or she can contribute to society.
- Every child is worth love and care and to feel safe, wanted and affirmed throughout their lifetime.
- Every dying baby or child should be loved and cherished and die loved and with dignity.
- Every child should be given the opportunities and help to achieve their full potential
“The aim of Iris House Children’s Hospice is to enhance the quality of life for the special needs child with a life-limiting condition, offering a high quality service with both personal and professional support. In partnership with the child and family, each child’s individual needs will be met; those of their family and significant carers will be recognized and respected in a safe ‘home from home’ environment.”
Our Values are to be a responsive and innovative organisation that puts life limited and life threatened children, young people and their families first in all of its services, whilst embracing the diversity of our regional community and demonstrating integrity in everything we do.
