Charity profile

iKhaya le themba - "Home of hope" provides holistic care to children and families made vulnerable by social justice issues such as poverty, HIV&Aids, learning difficulties and trauma. We are working in Imizamo Yethu, Cape Town with 98 children aged 6-12 years and their families, using a holistic model for support. We are registered non-profit organisation since 2004, bringing care to the community for almost 10 years!

After school program:

iKhaya le themba, meaning home of hope, offers after school care with structured programs in a safe and stimulating environment. The programs include educational support, life skills, therapeutic groups as well as opportunities for fun and play and a good meal.

Community Development program

Parents and carers are supported by our community worker through home visits, referral and advocacy. Parenting groups are run offering parent education, emotional support and life skills. Our community worker also supports the local schools and networks with other organisations to ensure greater impact in the community.

Parent Centre:

Our Parent Centre has developed from a small pilot program to strategic intervention to empower out parents and carers in order for them to generate income. Through workshops, training, and mentoring we are hoping to see all our families self-supporting through employment or entrepreneurship.
