PPMFT is a charitable organization registered with the Master's office with the primary objective of seeking to advocate for the land based taxation as pioneered by Henry George. The Trust takes over the work began through the Humble Wisdom Enterprises NPO. The organisation was founded to empower the South African citizenry in improving their economic well being. The founder members sought to assist the development of an egalitarian society in South Africa as well as promote Economic Justice and Democracy. They hoped to do this by increasing and creating awareness amongst all the people in the nation about the power of cooperative forms of enterprises fostered by a strong socially responsible way of doing business.
Since inception, the organization’s programmes have been around cooperative forms of business and democratic issues.
In January 2010 after a needs assessment, done through a strategic planning workshop, the former HWE decided to focus on advocating the introduction of land tax as the only basis for raising government revenue. In line with the underlying principles contained in the Henry George Institute, the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the African Charter on the People’s and Human Rights, the organisation’s vision then became to advocate for: ‘A society where people, enjoy all fundamental rights, justice and human dignity prevail’ and it resolved to strive for this dream by 'the promotion of and protection of economic justice through civic education.’
