Early in 2017 my friend Gavin, pictured here, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Tumours can strike without warning and Gavin’s was no different. It was a major shock for everyone who knew him and particularly to his family - his wife, son, daughter, brother, sister and his mum.
He fought hard to beat the cancer but alas, lost the battle late in 2017. His last weeks were spent in the care of the wonderful staff at La Maison de Tara, a unique hospice in Geneva.

For my part, I’m going to be joining with some of his friends
and family in a bike ride around Lake Geneva on Sunday, May 27th 2018 in Gavin’s memory. This is 110 miles and coincides with what would have been his birthday, so a significant date for us.
Getting me and my bike from Morpeth to the start, round the lake and back again is not without its difficulties, and I’m hoping you can help make it a worthwhile endeavour….

contribution that would be fantastic!
Help us to raise as much as possible for the vital work carried out by La Maison de Tara.

Finally, if you want to know more about hospices in the UK:
Most hospices are run by a combination of volunteers and professionals. They rely on donations to be able to continue their work.
