Active Communities Network is a non-profit using sport as a tool to heal communities. It is active in many parts of the world and now also in South Africa through its partnership with eta College. As part of its Women's Month Campaign it will select a keen girl cyclist from the Kayamandi community in Stellenbosch as its newest ambassador. She will undergo a year of training including a national qualification in sport and fitness and life skills training. Once qualified she will be mobilised in her community using the sport of mountain biking as an analogy of what is possible if the youth chooses a healthy and active lifestyle over other bad options such as drugs and alcoholism. The funds raised will go towards this young candidate's year of training.
