Bright Start Educational Support Programme was founded in 2008 to address the tangible inequality in South Africa post 1994. Hout Bay specifically has a huge socio-economic divide that is perpetuated through social exclusion and ongoing lack of opportunities for the previously disadvantaged. Bright Start understands Education as a fundamental tool to bridge this gap, and therefore awards scholarships to low income-households in Hout Bay. Our programme provides our children with scholarships to attend quality schools, access to good medical care, mentoring and counselling for parents and care-givers, after-mural activities and aftercare, safe and reliable transport, and above all, the ability to be children – safe,
protected and loved.
Poverty has a way of destroying the dignity of people. Our Programme is therefore committed to ensure that our children and parents are included in every aspect of their education trajectory so that they feel proud and dignified. We therefore are raising funds for Naeemah
and Qama and some of her other Bright Start friends to have a new school uniform and stationery for 2018. We have partnered with a #friendofBrightStart Melanie to reaise R30 000-00 towards this fund.
