947 Ride for a Purpose Challenge

A recent study published by medical journal Lancet predicts that South Africa could see an increase of 78% in the number of cancer cases by 2030. (Health24)

My mother is a warrior, a soldier in her own right, a strong woman that has managed to win the war against cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 4 colon and liver cancer in 2010. She underwent Chemo and Radiation concurrently for many months and numerous surgeries. She went through a lot emotionally, physical, mentally and spiritually, but today she is healthy and wakes up everyday happy to see the sun rise.

I chose CANSA as my charity as I want to offer whatever I can to those who are going through what my mother went through. This isn't a battle that only the patient has to fight but a battle that all the loved ones have to fight as well. The affect cancer has on a patient and family is extreme and I hope that with the money I can offer the charity I will be able to help another survivor, another family to potentially conquer this dreaded disease and in turn they will be able to do the same for someone else.

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave youNever, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints,It was then that I carried you." - Footprints in the Sand
