Jesus - Light of the World

As we find ourselves at the beginning of another year we are reminded of the ‘light come into the world' - which light is the life of men. To live by that light means to uphold the witness to Messiah in the face of all that resists it.

On this theme, we are very pleased to publish a short biography of Paul Schneider - German opponent of Hitler, a member of the German confessing church who resisted compromise with Nazi ideology, 'shining as a light in dark place' (2 Pet 1:19). This testimony is published with the permission of Evangelical Press from the book WAR AND GRACE by Don Stephens which contains testimonies from the two world wars and which we highly recommend.

When two Gestapo men appeared at the home of Dr. Cahn and ordered him to remove his brass plate from the door, because he was not allowed to attend non-Jewish patients, he and his wife were dumbfounded. The indignity of being treated as inferiors and prevented from carrying on their profession as well as the thought of a hopeless future affected them so much that they decided to put an end to their troubles. They took poison into their bedroom, but an unseen, merciful hand prevented them from carrying out their purpose.
