Yakha Ikusasa Manje (YIM) Health Development Centre is an NPO registered as Section 21company. It has been in existence from August 2004. Its focus area is Primary Health Care (PHC) and HIV/AIDS services. The organisation offers a range of services to individuals and families infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The organization started because of the large number of people in Kingsway, Lindelani and Bascelona (all informal settlement) who were infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. There was no organization in these areas which could render these services. YIM Health Development Centre serves to ensure that the basic needs of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWA) and people affected by HIV and AIDS are met. Its goal is to ensure an extended benefit to beneficiaries.
The organization is also working to prevent HIV infection among children and adolescence made vulnerable by AIDS, and among adults, to prevent further orphaning. We also support grandparents who are left behind with their different sets of grandchildren because of the HIV and AIDS pandemic. There is a continuation to advocate for care and support of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) within families and community context.
