TLC is a family orientated ministry geared to the care and nurture of newborn abandoned babies. Established in 1993, we have cared for and facilitated the placement of over 750 babies. Most of these babies have been placed into adoption, a small percentage have been fortunate to be re-united with their biological families. There have however been the few children to whom no option has been available, these children have been personally adopted by Thea (the founder of TLC) and her 2 daughters who help manage the organisation.
The Nursery at TLC is home to 30 little babies and 20 resident volunteer staff who are recruited to care for these babies 24hrs a day. TLC employs 10 permanent staff and child care workers who assist in the education, and household management of these babies and children.
TLC is a registered children’s home with the Gauteng Department of Social services since December 2003. We are working hand in hand with the department to address the needs of abandoned babies and orphans in the Sedibeng region of the province. We are also registered to accept Pre-mature babies from throughout the province. As of January 2012, we still do not receive any reliable subsidy from the department despite our registration.
Our strategic plan for the next 5 years includes the continued development of our sustainable projects. These include the development of our food producing farm which currently provides vegetables, dairy products, chicken and eggs.
Our vision is to take the children who have been resident at TLC and who had special educational needs, as well as children from our local community and begin small training units in each project to give those skills and experience in practical tasks according to their aptitude, thereby making them employable and financially productive.
We are looking at organisations and individuals to assist us with the continuation of our work and service to these innocent babies and children. The budget for the running of our project is vast and available on request.
