GADRA Education offers short courses in MS Word and MS Excel. These Adult Education classes cater for all age groups and skill levels, with English at Matric level being a requirement for benefiting from the classes. They make use of the Business and Computer Studies Centre facilities and are run over 6 evenings of 3-hours each.
The courses are run on demand in the GADRA Commercial Centre with each participant having access to a computer. This provides individuals in the Grahamstown community a very affordable way of gaining computer skills for use in their domestic or work environments. They also provide unemployed people and young school- leavers with basic computer skills. Participants get a Certificate of Attendance on completing the courses.
There has been some call for these courses from local companies and famers wishing to upgrade their employees’ skills.
Demand for the classes varies – in 2010, 166 people completed the courses and 68 in 2011. In the first two months of 2012 there has been great demand for these courses with many people having already registered for these classes.
