Aquila Bibles is a non-profit organization with an unique initiative. A thousand recognisable green Aquila Traveling Bibles are distributed amongst Christians to raise money for fellow believers in need. These individuals will use the Aquila Bible in their usual Bible study and mark or underline, with the date, those scriptures that touched them in any way.
After a calender month the unique numbered Aquila Bible is passed on to the next individual who supports the aims of the project as well as to spread the Word of God. With the acceptance of the Bible the user makes a small donation of at least R100 / $10.00 / £10.00 / €10.00 to the project to achieve its aims.
Donations will be used to invest in several identified wellfare organizations as well as the lives of less fortunate individuals. One of the primary aims of the project is to "rather teach a person to fish than to give him a fish".
Aquila Bibles originated from a moving Bible study about the lives of the Biblical Aquila and his wife Priscilla, which story was married with the established needs of different communities and organizations in South Africa along with a priority to see the Gospel of God spreading in a new and exciting manner.
