Ububele’s purpose is to assist children born into poverty to grow up to become emotionally healthy adults, competent parents and good citizens. Our target group is children under the age of seven, their parents and other caregivers.
We work with mothers and infants from Alexandra to improve the quality of attachment between them.
We run a therapeutic pre-school for children from Alexandra and surrounding areas which provides them with a holistic and enriching ECD experience, as well as therapy for those who need it.
We provide training courses in psychosocial care and support for those who work directly with children (psychotherapists, social workers, social auxiliary workers, nurses, pre-school teachers, child care workers and lay counsellors). Most community-based childcare workers interact with up to 20 children each day, and so training 100 childcare workers reaches 2 000 children more effectively daily.
Last year we trained 290 professionals, para-professionals, students and lay people working with children under seven and provided services to 1,178 people.
