About this Project

« »
So, Lerato and I walked at the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk to take advantage of the great opportunity that exists for Greenpeace to train young people in South Africa on renewable energies. This we believe will afford the young people the ability to choose a career within the solar energy value chain.

Through our walk we were able to raise R8350. We are ecstatic about that! Not only was the walk fun, we got a lot of much appreciated support. We are encouraged that there a many people out there that share our passion for the youth. We appreciate the support and would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you All.

We realize that Greenpeace will not be able to run the training with the amount we have raised as they need a total of R30 000 to cover the costs of one of the planned training sessions. We have therefore decided to walk and 'RUN' for youth until we meet our goal.

The reasons for our efforts remain the same. We so deeply want to contribute to the well being of the youth i.e. They are the largest demographic group and yet the majority of them are unemployed.

We see the increase in the number of renewable energy projects in Africa as an opportunity for young people to be part of this new industry rather than depending on others to create economic opportunity for them. We therefore would like to support Greenpeace Africa as they train young people and equip them to take advantage of this opportunity.

For R30000 Greenpeace Africa will be able to train 15 to 20 young people. Please donate and help us make a difference.
